So think of your finishing project as walking along a path where you haven't arrived yet. Not arriving is not failing; not arriving is that you're still on the path. It will end and you will get there.
Very wise and true words Pat... Well said my friend... Very well said...

I did a varathane finish on some speaker boxes. The finish came out great after I took care of the bubble thing! Very respectable finishing medium!

You don't want too much on, but you want enough to work with!

I think the beauty of doing this on your Mom's guitar is even if you don't get it right, there's always another chance later.

I have the utmost confidence in ya Buddy!

Billy Dean

P.S. Besides, if it doesn't come out right, you can do what the other guys, who screw up there finishes do, "BURST IT"!

Thanks for your trust in my abilities Billy, i have now 9 coats on top, 5 on the back and 4 on one side, it's beginning to look very nice.

About the burst, not another thing to shoot at it?

Cheers dude!

Thanks James, a bit more luster than on the pics above, i still have a few coats to spray on the back and sides and i will let it all dry up for a week before the level sanding, i'll post some more pics pics tomorrow night!

Good luck, Serge!

Finishing well was definitely the most challenging thing for me to learn about building. Moreso because I really do not enjoy sanding. But the good news is that, given enough time and effort, even I figured it out. (I think.)

Hey keep working at it. I have done about 150 finishes so far this year and it is always hards work. But in the end, each finish you do well on a guitar will make you feel good. That's what hard work is all about.

As always anyone can PM me with any problems!
